"The Way to Rainy Mountain"
In Momaday"s exerpt, "The Way to Rainy Mountain" it had depicted alot of ancestral background and discovering the unknown. The overall theme seems to be of expressive journey. For instance, with his travels through the Kiowa plains and his grandmother's explanations of the land which she resides. I feel as though she dignifies the Kiowa tribe to Momaday. Because this is a narrative peice, it suggests that Momaday appreciates his early family heritage. He seems content in his tone and describes the feilds artistically. Which show evidence of the theme of expedition. It is mentioned, that his grandmother Aho never did see the landscape of Rainy Mountain. But I feel that through stories she partook, her own glimpse/journey was in memory. It states, "...the immense landscape of the continental interior lay like memory in blood...she could tell of the Crows whom she has never seen." This excerpt largly illustrated the arguable themes of heritage, history, and expressive journey.
